Am I a Candidate for Dental Implants?
If you are suffering from tooth loss, dental implants may be a solution for you! Here at Watkin Dental Associates we think it is imperative our patients know what makes a good candidate for dental implants.
Most individuals suffering from tooth loss are good candidates for dental implants. Importantly, good candidates have healthy gums and have reached the age where their jawbone has stopped growing. This criterion is important as dental implants are anchored to a patient’s jawbone. If you have suffered from jawbone loss, you may still be a good candidate for dental implants. In fact, dental implants may even be recommended to prevent further bone loss. A grafting process may be used in this case to restore bone. However, in these cases Dr. Arnold Watkin will evaluate.
For this reason, an evaluation is necessary before beginning the dental implant process. Oral X-rays are used to evaluate your jawbone condition and examine the shape of your sinuses and location of facial nerves. A good candidate for dental implants must also exhibit a good oral hygiene routine. Our staff will also go through your overall health history as bodily health can impact how well the dental implant will fuse to your bone.
In our local office in Fitchburg, MA we offer private consultations to assess if our patients are candidates for dental implants. Email us @ firstname.lastname@example.org.
